Nachruf auf Richard S. R. Fitter

{mosimage}Bereits am 03. September 2005 verstarb der bekannte Naturkundler und Kryptozoologie Richard Sidney Richmond Fitter im Alter von 92 Jahren.
Der Naturkundler alter Schule wurde insbesondere durch seine vielfach verkauften Feldführer bekannt. 1952 erschien der von R. A. Richardson illustrierte "The Collins Pocket Guide to British Birds", einer der ersten modernen Feldführer, der einer ganzen Generation Vogelkundler nur als "Fitter und Richardson" bekannt war.
Fitter, geboren am 01. März 1913 in Süd-London, war einer der Gründer des 1961 gegründeten "The Bureau for Investigating the Loch Ness Phenomena Ltd.", informell bekannter unter dem von den Medien verbreiteten Namen "Loch Ness Phenomena Investigation Bureau" (LNI). Die Mitgründer waren der britische Parlamentarier Sir David James, der Autor Constance Whyte ("More Than A Legend") sowie der Naturkundler und Gründer des World Wildlife Found (WWF) Sir Peter Scott.
